On Monday, England’s Tom Curry revealed that he “curled up in a ball” and cried upon learning the full severity of a hip injury that sidelined him for most of last season and left him worried about the future of his rugby career.

Curry, who endured pain during England’s semi-final campaign at last year’s World Cup in France, was diagnosed with a condition where the ball in the hip joint is not perfectly round. As he readied himself for surgery, the 26-year-old was informed that this injury might spell the end of his professional career.
“It was horrible,” Curry told reporters.
