Emmerdale pulled off a corker of a twist, with Tracy Metcalfe’s (Amy Walsh) mystery groom being revealed as none other than former flame Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
It was touch and go for a while in regards to whether the happy couple would actually make it down the aisle after Cain and Moira Dingle (Jeff Hordley and Natalie J Robb) intervened, believing Nate was up to no good.
Cain, however, swooped into action when he found out that Nate was actually intending to marry Tracy, getting Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) to conduct an impromptu wedding for the bride and groom, declaring them husband and wife.
No, you’re crying.
But what’s next? While we’re a fan of happy endings here at Metro.co.uk, this is Emmerdale we’re talking about, so there’s only so much happiness one can have before things go awry.
Discussing what’s ahead, Amy Walsh, who staged her long-awaited comeback on Monday (July 3), told us that there will be a bumps in the road of sorts when it comes to next steps for the couple.

‘There’s a lot of forks in the road,’ she said. ‘There may be a Dingle initiation. And yeah, gosh, it’s hard to know what you can say. It’s like domestic bliss, hit with all the bumps that come with that.
‘So they’ve got some work issues coming up, but what’s really nice to see, I think, in the next coming episodes after the wedding, is hitting those bumps and sailing over them. You just keep seeing the strength they’ve got as a couple – they get each other through, which is really nice.’

Tracy, meanwhile, will embark on a new professional venture as she settles back in to the eponymous village. ‘She thinks it’s a good idea to open up a nursery in the village, so I’m going to be looking after more kids!,’ exclaimed Amy.
‘It’ll be fun. I’ve actually asked if [real-life daughter] Bonnie can be an extra, just so I can see her a bit more. The producers think I’m mad. I don’t think that’d be a wise move, to be honest! No, it’ll be fun. It’s exciting to see.’
And as for Jurell, who plays Nate, does he think Tracy and Nate make a good couple?
‘I do,’ he told us, ‘Because they come from a similar background – a rough upbringing, they’ve not had a stable upbringing.

‘Obviously Tracy’s long-lost dad wasn’t in her life, and then Nate not having a biological father in his life – I think they’ve come from similar troubles and can relate to each other. I think they’ve got a fierceness about each other as well and they’re very family-orientated.’
A match made in heaven.
