Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher will return to ITV this Autumn for a brand new show about his family life on their farm.

The actor, best known for his role as Andy Sudgen in the soap, will star alongside his wife, Liz, and their four children as they continue to get to grips with managing a farm in the Peak District.

Fletcher’s Family Farm will be eight episodes long and is set to air this autumn.

Speaking about their new adventure, Liz and Kelvin said: ‘When we embarked on this new chapter of our lives, we couldn’t have imagined what an extraordinary journey it would be. Since the arrival of our two newborn twins last year, it has been even more of a rollercoaster ride.

‘Navigating farming life with four small kids is certainly a challenge but one full of laughter and unforgettable memories. We are so excited to invite viewers into our lives like never before – we hope to share the beauty and unpredictable joy of life on our farm.’

This isn’t the first time the family have taken centre stage in a documentary series about life on their farm, as the BBC previously commissioned a show called Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure, which focused on the early days of becoming farmers.

With Kelvin busy filming this new show, it means he more than likely won’t be returning to Emmerdale as Andy, despite a few comments here and there that suggested he’d like to come back.

Recently, after Moira (Natalie J Robb) was faced with the challenge of selling her farm, Kelvin raised the prospect of his character buying it from her.

‘I’ll buy it,’ Kelvin declared while commenting on an Instagram post, which had fans thrilled at the prospect. ‘Now that would be a great storyline,’ one said approvingly, with others liking the idea of Emmerdale getting back to its Emmerdale Farm roots with more actual farmers.

‘Yes! Bring another farmer back!!’ a fan commented.

Kelvin played Andy Sugden for 20 years and for much of that time he ran Butlers Farm, living there himself and then working for the Barton family when they took over the lease.

His many major storylines included setting fire to the barn when the farm ran into financial troubles, which led to the death of his adoptive mother Sarah (Alyson Spiro).
