There’s a blast from the past and a major health crisis in another set of dramatic Emmerdale episodes next week.
Lydia Dingle’s (Karen Blick) past is known by viewers; she tragically lost a baby at the children’s home.
Now that history is coming back to haunt her as a familiar face turns up. While he seems pleased to re-connect, Lydia is understandably thrown.
Meanwhile, another person who is struggling is Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), in the wake of Wendy Posner’s (Susan Cookson) affair with Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
The betrayal still smarts, so when he sees Wendy and Liam together, the red mist dawns and he chucks a punch.
The stress mounts during the altercation, and panic ensures as poor Bob collapses with a heart attack.
In other developments, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) is scared of getting back behind the wheel again, while Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) finds something amiss with mum Mary’s (Louise Jameson) claims.
Monday August 14
Bob lands a punch on Liam (Picture: ITV)
Bob is still angry about Wendy and Liam. Before long, Liam’s stunned when Wendy arrives to hand in her notice of resignation. Grateful for Liam’s understanding, Wendy’s keen to repair her relationship with Bob.
After another run-in with Archie and his football outside the B&B, a grumpy Bob launches his football into the air.
Bob’s distracted when he notices Wendy and Liam leaving Tenants together. Seeing red, he assumes their affair is on-going and punches Liam in the face.
Despite the villagers’ best efforts to calm him, Bob lobs the ball at Liam. Then panic sets in as Bob suffers a heart attack.

The villagers are soon left in a state of shock as Bob leaves in an ambulance. The blame game begins and both Wendy and Liam feel terrible.Â
Meanwhile, Marlon is nervous as he looks to the future, while Mary has something on her mind.
The Dingles are troubled.
Tuesday August 15
Is Mary being honest with Rhona? (Picture: ITV)
Wendy’s relieved when Bob starts to stir in his hospital bed. He’s emotional as he recalls his heart attack. Mustering all her strength, Bernice encourages Brenda not to blame Wendy and focus on Bob’s health instead.
At the hospital, Liam tentatively apologises to Bob for the affair. But will Bob forgive and is he being utterly truthful about everything?
When Sam finds an old dolls house in a skip he brings it home to do up for Esther’s birthday.
It reminds Lydia of the one she had in the children’s home. As they work on the doll’s house, Lydia talks about the children’s home and her son, Toby.Â

Wednesday August 16
Sam gets a surprise – but Lydia gets an even bigger shock (Picture: ITV)
The Dingles celebrate Sam’s birthday, despite misery hanging over some of them. In the pub, Kim rejects Lydia’s proposal for more hours. Worried about her finances Lydia wants to take on a second job.Â
Mary attempts to put on a brave face as she prepares herself for Faye’s trial at the café.
Later, after having attended the trial and to prove she is moving on, she non-chalantly claims to have a date tomorrow leaving Rhona and Marlon impressed.
Thursday August 17

Lydia announces she’s going to a recruitment fair in search of another job. Sam’s unhappy with the situation. Lydia’s awkward to see Kim arrive at the Hide as she looks for a job.
Lydia is utterly shaken to bump into a mystery man from her past. Having not seen her since the children’s home, Craig’s soon delighted to have found her again.
Mary’s cagey about her date. Meanwhile, after a grilling from Rhona and Mary, a worried Marlon agrees to try getting back behind the wheel. He is anxious as he prepares to drive for the first time since his stroke.
Friday August 18
Mack’s surprised to hear Chloe planned a Christening for Reuben. Worried about not finding god-parents, Chloe’s upset and cancels the Christening.
It’s back on when she worries to Mack about village gossip and Mack reassures her that their little family is all they need.
