May made a big decision about her future, unaware she’s about to have her heart broken (Picture: ITV)
Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) decided to take a chance on love in Emmerdale as she resolved to leave the eponymous village and start a new life with Faye (Jane Gurnett) in Ecuador, unaware of her lover’s true motivations.
Faye, it has been confirmed, is a con-woman, which will be revealed in upcoming scenes set to air next week.
Mary, who came out as gay last year, met Faye on a dating app a number of months ago and has swiftly fallen head over heels in love with her, admitting such a thing during Thursday’s (April 27) edition of the ITV soap, after Faye revealed that she must return to Ecuador following the alleged fire at the women’s shelter.
The news of her partner’s impending departure left Mary heartbroken, but she soon found herself with a decision to make, after Faye invited her to make the move with her.
Mary’s initial instinct was to decline the offer, but Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) offered her some advice, suggesting that she take her chance on love and move with Faye, remarking that she wished she’d left the village with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).
Mary dared to dream of a happy ending with Faye, but nonetheless she remained apprehensive, not wanting to put the relationship she’s built with daughter Rhona (Zoe Henry) in jeopardy.

But after giving it some thought, the former journalist and village favourite decided to be brave, telling Faye that she loves her, before revealing that she would very much like to move to Ecuador with her.
Faye was taken aback by Mary’s change of heart, but subsequently claimed to reiterate her feelings of love, with the two enjoying a drink at the pub, brainstorming their new and exciting adventure, as Mary contemplated how she was going to break the news to Rhona.
Faye’s true nature is set to be exposed next week (Picture: ITV)

Suzy begins to suspect that the newcomer isn’t who she says she is and relays her theories to Mary, who works out the truth, before being left seriously injured at the hands of her lover.
But will cruel Faye get her comeuppance? And will Mary be okay?
