Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley is set to return to our screens in the latest series of acclaimed TV drama All Creatures Great And Small.

The Robert Sugden actor will play farmer Sid Crabtree in the popular Channel 5 show, which is the latest adaptation of the book series of the same name and follows a much-loved BBC version, which aired from 1978 to 1990.

The character of Sid has taken up farming due to his health and moves to the Dales with wife Elsie and their children.

This will mark Ryan’s first TV role since Silent Witness, which he starred in over two years ago, playing Michael Robson in two episodes, sporting a long hairstyle and a beard.

Emmerdale fans have been hoping to see the actor back on the ITV soap as Robert, especially following the shock return of Danny Miller, who played his love interest Aaron Dingle, last week.

The story of Robert and Aaron, known to viewers as Robron, won a legion of fans, making them one of soap’s most loved couples ever.

Robert was arrested in 2019 before being sent to prison, marking Ryan’s exit from the show (Picture: ITV)

Robert and Aaron were, however, tragically torn apart back in 2019 when their love story ultimately ended in tragedy after Ryan made the decision to leave the show.

Robert’s final scenes saw him jailed after he was arrested by the police, turning himself in for the the attack on Lee Posner, who had raped his sister Victoria Barton.

Danny recently discussed the possibility of co-star Ryan staging a comeback, revealing that he still gets asked about Robron every day by the loyal fans.

‘Every day I still get messages from people saying, “Bring back Robron!’ – I’m amazed!”‘ he told Inside Soap. ‘I’d love to work with Ryan again but it’s just a case of whether I can talk him round.

    We’d love to see it!
