‘Sensational’ Emma Raducanu beats Sloane Stephens in Australian Open debut

Tennis superstar Emma Raducanu beat American Sloane Stephens in three sets for a spot in the Australian Open second round.

US Open champion Raducanu won 6-0 2-6 6-1 against Stephens. Raducanu’s performance has been described as ‘sharp’ as she wrapped up the first set in just 17 minutes.

A few errors crept into her game, errors which Stephens took advantage of. But Emma Raducaun’s resilience and quality shone through as she reasserted control to win.

The British tennis sensation will face Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic in the second round on Thursday.

A Melbourne moment to remember ✨
