Ábalos denies the collection of commissions and points to Aldama and Koldo García – El Pais 

What’s on the front page of El Pais? 

1. The former Minister of Transport and former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE José Luis Abalos denied yesterday in the Supreme Court the accusations that link him with a corrupt plot during his administration. 

   Abalos, investigated for influence peddling, bribery, embezzlement and criminal organization, stated that he did not receive commissions or favor contracts. He attributed any relationship with businessmen to his former advisor Koldo García, including Victor de Aldama, the main person involved.

2. The National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) is going through a critical situation: only one of its four confocal microscopes, essential for research, works, and the purchase of new devices was cancelled. Several researchers have been denouncing poor management by María Blasco, director of the institution since 2010, for several years. Problems such as a lack of equipment and exit have reduced the centre and conditions have worsened for cancer research.
