Billy begged Jay to live (Picture: BBC)
Jay Brown’s (Jamie Borthwick) family have been left in turmoil following reports that he had been involved in an accident in EastEnders.
Unfortunately, because Jay’s only official next of kin was Lola, neither the police nor hospital staff could give Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) any further information, leaving everyone completely in the dark and unaware of if he was even still alive.
This caused problems for Ben and Callum (Max Bowden and Tony Clay), who had to face daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) and explain what had happened.
After initially trying to pretend that everything was fine, they decided to give her the limited information that they had.
When Lexi asked if Jay was dead, Ben admitted that they didn’t know and explained that there had been some kind of accident.

His heart broke when Lexi wondered if he had hurt himself on purpose so that he could be with Lola, though he was quick to assure her that that was not the case, because he loved Lexi.
It wasn’t long before Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) called to inform Callum that they’d managed to track Jay down to the hospital, and he was soon on his way.
As they waited for news, Billy recalled stories from Jay’s childhood, and admitted that Jay was the son he chose, before deciding to go and find out exactly where he was.

This caused a confrontation between Billy ad the receptionist, which was soon broken up by Callum’s arrival.
Eventually, they were able to see Jay, who had been put into an induced coma after crashing into a tree.
As promised, Callum called Ben, and allowed both him and Lexi to speak to him over the phone.

While Lexi begged Jay to come home, Ben reminded him that they are brothers, and hoped that they’d be able to forgive each other.
He insisted that he needed his brother by his side and made it clear that he still loved him, despite everything that had happened over the last few days.
As they hung up the phone, it was time for Billy to appeal to Jay, urging him to fight and begging him to live.
