Earthquake shakes houses and wakes people in Scotland at 2am
The Metro says People in western Scotland were woken by an earthquake in the night.
Residents startled by the incident said their houses shook and they heard ‘an almighty crash’ at around 2am.
The tremor measured about 3.1 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre some 88 miles north-west of Glasgow, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
It struck 11 miles north-west of the town of Lochgilphead but people said they felt the quake from as far as Edinburgh and Ballycastle in Northern Ireland.
