Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has dropped a major tease he could be heading back to WWE to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

Rumours have been swirling for almost two years now about the Great One making his return from Hollywood to face his cousin – who’s known as the Tribal Chief and the Head of the Table – at the showcase two-night event in Hollywood in April 2023.

There’s still no confirmation about The Rock lacing up his boots one more time, but a coy answer in a recent interview promoting DC blockbuster Black Adam has fans going wild.

Appearing on E! News’ The Rundown, Dwayne was asked who the Head of the Table actually is, and brilliantly replied: ‘Who is head of the table? Without saying any names, you’re looking into his eyes right now.’

In a fantastic follow-up, the interviewer wondered if the People’s Champ was ready to confirm he’d be facing Roman at WrestleMania, but he laughed off the question.

‘I am not confirming that at all. No. No, I am not,’ he smiled. ‘I know I’m going to get a text from him after he watches this.’

However, The Rock did admit he’s had talks with someone in WWE – believed to be boss Triple H – about the possibility of coming in for a WrestleMania bout, although ‘there are so many variables’.

‘I love the idea of a WrestleMania. I’m close to a lot of people there, but I’m very close to one in particular, who we’ve talked about this. There are so many variables that come into play,’ he explained.

‘I’m a fan because I’m a promoter at heart. I’m a fan of promoting an event and what could that be. I love WrestleMania and I love that world.’

Meanwhile, Dwayne talking about the potential match again may not go down to well with Roman’s special counsel Paul Heyman, who previously suggested The Rock has been ‘keeping his name out there’ at his cousin’s expense.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I applaud Dwayne The Rock Johnson for keeping his name out there in the media by expressing a desire to step into the ring with the number one box office attraction in sports, entertainment or sports entertainment, Roman Reigns.’
