Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has revealed he’c close to making a return from his injury hell.
The Dutchman has been out of action since December after suffering a long-term knee injury in a win against Bournemouth.
The former Ajax star was initially ruled out for the remainder of the season and United were forced into the market to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on loan.
Van de Beek’s endured a miserable time at United since joining in a £34m deal in 2020 and he’s made just 60 appearances in that time.
But the midfielder says he’s closing in on a return after a successful recovery period of five months.

‘I’m busy with my recovery after my injury and everything is going well,’ Van de Beek told United’s website.
‘It’s hard to give you a time but we have to see how everything goes. I’m doing a lot of gym work and getting closer to being on the pitch, which is positive. I’m not far away.’
On watching from the sidelines, Van de Beek said: ‘It’s a bit strange – of course you want to be there with the lads but it is what it is so I’m supporting them from the side.
‘They are so involved – they’re always asking how everything is, how the knee is. They’re really good lads and they support me, so that’s a good feeling.’
