Dimitar Berbatov has told Manchester United winger Antony to stop ‘p*****g people off’ and says he will become more effective if he stops trying to ‘mock his opponents’.
Antony has not been afraid to express himself on the pitch in his first season at Old Trafford but Berbatov believes he can offer more if he focuses on his output.
The 23-year-old, who completed an £82m move from Ajax last summer, has scored seven goals in 30 appearances for United and is yet to make an assist.
Antony has been accused of provoking his opponents with seemingly unnecessary tricks and Berbatov says it is natural that teams will then try to ‘kick the s*** out of him’.
Despite having concerns over Antony’s style of play, Berbatov believes the Brazilian has been a ‘good signing’ and can offer even more to Manchester United if he ‘removes some traits’.
‘I think he’s been a good signing,’ the former Old Trafford striker told Betfred.
‘However, in my eyes, he does sometimes get deserved criticism because he shows off on the pitch and he tries to make the opposition look foolish in a negative way.

‘Sometimes his trickery provides nothing for the team and if he can eradicate these negative elements of his game then it will greatly improve his impact on the team.
‘If you mock your opponent then they’re going to kick the s*** out of you and you’re not going to have the respect of the players you’re playing against.
‘If he can remove these traits, then he can improve a lot more because he’s a great talent with great qualities and he scores great goals as well.
‘His problem is that he can p*** people off and he needs to correct this.’
