Diablo 4 players are getting seriously annoyed by the random server shutdowns that keep happening and are demanding Blizzard fix the issue.
While Diablo servers have faced challenges coping with the massive influx of players, Diablo 4 has generally held up pretty well, offering a relatively smooth gaming experience since launch.
However, players have started noticing an increasing number of sudden server cutoffs that not only kick them out of the game but also wipe out their hardcore progress – just as happened to the first player who reached hardcore level 100.
With a whopping 93 million hours of gameplay accumulated, the weight on the servers is no joke. However, numerous players point fingers at Blizzard, attributing the server shutdowns to unexpected maintenance.
A strongly worded post on the Diablo 4 subreddit titled ‘Blizzard: PLEASE stop shutting down servers with zero warning’ explains the problems that arise with server disconnections and why players have started reaching their breaking point.
The original poster insisted that losing their connection while they’re in a dungeon or during a helltide is acceptable on ‘no planet’ and that give warning should be ‘common sense’ and that they shouldn’t have to ‘keep checking Twitter’ to know what’s going on.
The same player also emphasised that World Of Warcraft, another Blizzard hit, typically displays an in-game message when servers are scheduled to shut down for maintenance or other reasons.
The Reddit post quickly gained attention, sparking a wave of comments from frustrated players that were eager to chime in.
‘Agreed. Past games (including WoW) have always had a ‘server maintenance in 15 minutes’ kind of notice. It’s weird D4 isn’t doing that,’ a comment read.
A different player outlined their main concern is servers cutting off during hardcore mode. They said: ‘My first thought was hardcore. It’s bad enough to die when your own internet c***s out, but when it’s on Blizzard’s end and intentional with no notice…’
To prevent players from intentionally disconnecting from the game when their health is low in hardcore mode, Diablo 4 will kill off your character once it notices you’re no longer online.
Blizzard hasn’t addressed players’ complaints yet, although it’s wise they do something about it quickly, given the growing anger amongst the fanbase.
