A delivery rider has been killed in a ‘hit-and-run’ in south-west London, with the suspects fleeing on foot.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Leigham Court Road, a lengthy street that connects Streatham Hill station with Streatham Common, on Thursday evening.

Emergency services, including police officers and paramedics, arrived at the scene amid reports of an injured person.

A motorcyclist, reported to be a delivery rider in his 40s, was pronounced dead after a car crashed into him.

In video footage posted to social media by a witness, an overturned navy car can be seen that has torn through a hedge and smashed a railing.

Debris can be seen scattered across the road, as worried onlookers and emergency services surround the scene.

‘Streatham hit-and-run,’ the Twitter user, Katya Klymenko, said, claiming: ‘Killers ran towards Tulse Hill.’
