Ukraine war: Deadly new Russian attack reported on Izmail port area
A Ukrainian port facility in the Izmail area on the River Danube has been hit by a new Russian drone strike, killing one person, the local governor said.
Port and agricultural infrastructure were damaged in the overnight attack, according to Oleh Kiper, governor of the surrounding Odesa region.
Izmail came under Russian drone attacks earlier this week. They have yet to comment on the reported new attack.
Ukraine say Russian drones hit Romanian territory in the latest attack but Romania has denied this.
Russia has hit Ukraine’s port facilities along the River Danube for more than a month. The hope is to prevent Ukraine form using the river to export its grain – the country is one of the world’s major exporters of wheat and corn.
