Daniel Levy insists Harry Kane can win a trophy at Tottenham amid Manchester United transfer link

Daniel Levy is adamant that Harry Kane does not need to leave Tottenham and join Manchester United in order to win a trophy.

Kane has scored 273 goals for Spurs but despite plenty of individual awards and accolades, the England captain is yet to win silverware with his club.

Having failed to secure a move to Manchester City in 2021, Kane’s future is in question once again as Manchester United have reportedly made him their top transfer target for the upcoming summer window.

But Spurs chairman Levy has indicated that he plans to reject any approach from United at the end of the season.

When asked if Kane needs to leave Spurs in order to win a trophy, Levy said in an interview with the Cambridge Union: ‘He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs.

‘But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur – he’s making history.

‘I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.’

Daniel Levy spoke about Harry Kane’s situation in an interview with the Cambridge Union

Levy also refuted suggestions that he has established himself as the toughest negotiator in the Premier League.

‘I don’t consider myself a special negotiator or anything like that, I’m just acting in the best interests of my club,’ said Levy.

‘I think when it comes to the transfer it depends on the balance of power.

‘It depends also on the character of the player, whether you feel at the end you can keep the player because we’re operating in a team sport, it’s very important that we keep the team together.

    ‘Every circumstance is different.’
