New Cabinet to meet after PM’s shock reshuffle
BBC News says the prime minister’s new cabinet will meet for the first time later, following a reshuffle that saw Sajid Javid quit his role as chancellor.
Johnson has offered to reappoint Mr Javid on the condition he fired his team of aides – which Javid rejected to do on Thursday.
Rishi Sunak, former chief secretary to the Treasury, said he had “lots to get on with” after replacing Mr Javid.
Andrea Leadsom and Esther McVey are among others no longer in government. Along with Javid, they had been among the contenders in the Conservative leadership contest last July.

CNN says the brutal killing and mutilation of a 25-year-old woman in Mexico has sparked outrage and prompted calls for a change in the country’s law after several media outlets published a leaked picture of the victim’s body on their front pages.
Authorities said police officers arrived at a home in Mexico City over the weekend to find Ingrid Escamilla lifeless, with her body skinned and missing some of its organs – the latest incident in an ongoing string of violent crimes against women in Mexico.
A 46-year-old man, covered in blood-stains was also at the scene and was arrested. Further leaked photos and videos have emerged showing a bloodied man apparently admitting to stabbing the woman after what he says was a heated argument.
