Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande rush to mop champagne
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande rushed to help an influencer who was doused in champagne at a fan event.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have proved that not all heroes wear capes — some wear couture and carry kitchen roll.
TikTok user and influencer Tricia The Angel attended what was meant to be the most magical moment of her life: a special event for influencers featuring her idols, Ariana and Cynthia.
Instead, it turned into something almost as scary as CGI monkeys growing wings.
As Tricia tells it, everything was picture-perfect as she posed with the Glinda and Elphaba actresses at the meet-and-greet event, with Cynthia even taking a moment to call the influencer beautiful.
When it came time for the group photo, all was well until someone in the background apparently decided to baptize her in bubbly.
Mid-pose, a rogue glass of champagne tipped, spilled, and shattered, showering Tricia’s hair, face, and mascara, immediately getting in her eyes.
‘As we say “cheese,” this glass spills on my head!’ Tricia recounted in her viral TikTok (over a million views and counting).
Cue screaming, confusion, and probably one very alarmed PR team, as everyone looks around to figure out exactly what shattered.
But before Tricia could process the fizzing horror, her fairy godmothers in Wicked-green swept in.
‘Tissue! We need a tissue right now!’ Cynthia declared, like the world’s most long-nailed paramedic, while Ariana gently took Tricia by the shoulders asking: ‘Are you okay?’
The influencer was thrilled to meet her idols
Until the unfortunate spill. But Cynthia and Ariana quickly rushed to her rescue.
‘The alcohol mixed with the mascara is burning my eyes,’ Tricia recounted in her TikTok, describing the moment her ‘most embarrassing’ memory became ‘one of the kindest.’
She explained: ‘I don’t know what’s going on. I start to panic a little bit because I can’t see.
‘As my eyes are closed and burning I feel somebody hold me, and they’re like, “This is Cynthia Erivo, we’re gonna find you a chair now, okay? You’re going to be okay.”‘
Grande, meanwhile, reportedly joked, ‘We can cancel the premiere if we have to.’
Ariana and Cynthia star as Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked
Tricia continued, laughingly: ‘Also, I’m African, so I wasn’t sure what fell on my head. I didn’t know that it was champagne at the time. It could have been acid as far as I was concerned, okay?’
Ultimately, both witches comforted her until the burning subsided and the mortification faded.
‘I don’t know if my eyes are gonna be okay, and I’m also a little bit embarrassed because I seem to be the only person affected by this thing.’
Although her eyes were closed, she said she recognised Ariana and Cynthia’s voices as they comforted her.
‘Both of them were so sweet and so kind and took the time to comfort me until I started to feel better,’ the influencer said.
Fans were quick to comment on the video, with many of them praising Cynthia and Ariana’s compassion.
Bob_thee_nerd wrote: ‘😭I would retell this story over and over again, I’d be overjoyed ohhh my this is so sweet🥺 ohh Ariana grande and Cynthia.’
Mercurius joked: ‘Ariana Grande touched you? Girl I would stop showering 😭😭😭😂😂’
kelvinn agreed: ‘”ARIANA GRANDE wiped me clean” never have I been so jealous of a human being 😭😭’
Tricia concluded the video with a call to action: ‘If you had no intention of watching Wicked: Part 2, I hope this gave you a reason.’
