Max Turner (Paddy Bever) is set to be left smitten in Coronation Street next week when introduced to newcomer Lauren.

Lauren is the daughter is Reece, a mate of Griff’s, who will soon target Max as part of an upcoming storyline which is set to highlight the issue of grooming of disenfranchised and impressionable young men.

The storyline kicks off this Friday (October 28), after Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) discovers that the band that Griff and his mates have invited him see are playing racist songs.

Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) gets wind of the situation and she is similarly appalled, and thus wastes little time tackling Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) about the company he is keeping – unaware he is an undercover cop who has infiltrated the gang to expose their activity.

Griff, meanwhile, soon turns his attention to Max, who has been having a very hard time in the wake of him losing his place at Weatherfield High.

Realising that Max is being bullied, Griff offers to teach his tormentors a lesson, before inviting the teen to a Halloween party at his home, telling the rest of his gang that Max will be useful to their cause.

Next Wednesday (November 2), thing take yet another turn, as Griff tells Max that he’s having a few mates over later, making it clear that he’s welcome to come along.

Max agrees, and later lies to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), telling him he’s going to the library after school.
