One of Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) many crimes was finally exposed in Coronation Street, as Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) got to the bottom of Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) mysterious equity release letter.

While Audrey and Gail (Helen Worth) were convinced the letter was a scam, several conversations from earlier in the day sent alarm bells ringing in Sarah’s head, and she agreed to look further into it.

It had been an eventful day for Sarah, with the cancellation of the Nippersnapper order resulting in Stephen suggesting they sell the brand causing a ruck between her and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine).

After hearing that Sarah trusted Stephen’s judgement, Tim couldn’t help but reveal his lies about his relationship with Gabrielle, explaining how he’d reeled Elaine (Paula Wilcox) in by saying he had also been coercively controlled.

When Tim questioned why he would bring her in as a consultant if she’d treated him so badly, Sarah realised that she needed to talk to her in order to clarify a few things.

However, what Sarah didn’t realise was that it was Stephen who had made up Seagull Ltd, not Gabrielle.

Gabrielle wasn’t going to correct her though, instead, she simply pointed out that Stephen had failed to show any loyalty to his family, before hanging up the phone.

With all of these warnings ringing in her ears, Sarah decided to look further into the equity release, suspicious that Stephen may really have something to do with it.

After she rang the firm, Stephen was rumbled.

Not wanting to upset her gran with Stephen’s betrayal, Sarah assured her that it was just a scam, and she could ignore the letter, but she was quick to confront Stephen about it.

She made it clear that her actions were to benefit Audrey and not him, and he was to pay back every penny he had taken.

it was then that she revealed that he had burned his bridges, and she would never, ever be able to trust him again…

Is this the beginning of Stephen’s unravelling?
