What does the future hold? (Picture: ITV)
It appears Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla Connor (Alison King) are starting to find themselves on two different paths in Coronation Street.
Ever since Stephen’s (Todd Boyce) death, Carla has been very focused on trying to prevent Underworld from going well…under. The factory is in a complete mess and Carla was aware in tonight’s (November 8) episode that if the team didn’t finish an important order, it would leave everyone’s jobs in jeapordy.
Carla and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) attempted to boost morale by lying about the team getting paid. When Izzy (Cherylee Houston) received a text from Beth (Lisa George), who confirmed the money Stephen stole from the Underworld account won’t ever return, the workers decided to go on strike.

Peter, no doubt feeling the guilt, decided to step in to try and help Carla.
He then invited a few Underworld staff members back to the factory, but made the numbers up by asking Simon (Alex Bain), Roy (David Neilson), Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) and Nina (Mollie Gallagher) to help.

Working into the night, Peter managed to have a quiet moment with Carla during a break.
There, Peter chatted about how his friend abroad is looking for new staff members for his work and put forward the idea of him and Carla sailing off into the sunset and leaving the cobbles behind.

Ultimately, Carla said no. She argued that packing up her life in Weatherfield and leaving next week isn’t possible and shortly after, turned her focus back to the factory when a client rang.
This left Peter in a terrible position.

While Peter loves Carla dearly, staying put leaves him trapped and consumed with the memories and emotions surrounding Stephen’s death.
We know Peter will leave the cobbles over Christmas, but will he accept his friend’s job offer and plan to meet him before 2023 ends, ready to start again on his own?
