    Another upsetting reminder (Picture: ITV)

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) continues to try and embrace the life he has left in Coronation Street but ultimately, the one thing that will never be removed from his mind is that he will die sooner than he thought.

Paul has motor neurone disease and recently, his mobility has gotten worse. We saw this when he fell over in the park at the precinct and also admitted to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) that he was too tired to walk up the stairs to his flat.

It’s an emotional time for the beloved character and next week, he is once again given a terrifying reminder that he really doesn’t have long left.

Coming up, Paul is daunted when he receives a letter offering an appointment with the palliative nurse, who will help Paul nearer the end of his life.

Paul tries to make light of it, leaving Billy convinced that he’s just bottling up his feelings.

Later in the week, after noticing that Paul is struggling to walk, Billy suggests using the wheelchair.

Paul refuses and later, he catches Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) red-handed, who has been working with Shelley to flog electricals.

He then tells Billy about Bernie’s scam and says he knows she meant well, but speaking to Shelley and putting a stop to it is best.

But as Paul heads for Shelley’s flat, he trips and falls over.

As Paul calls out for help, he quickly realises that no one is around, and he can barely move.

Will anyone come to Paul’s rescue?

‘I think I was called into Iain (MacLeod) the producer’s office late last year,’ Peter Ash told Metro.co.uk, discussing his exit. ‘We’ve got this very big storyline for you. It should be a great thing to do but unfortunately it does mean an eventual exit.

‘I had mixed feelings, obviously. I’ll be sad to leave the show. It’s been such an amazing job, I’ve met fantastic people.

‘So I’ll be sad to leave, but also at the same time I’m quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline that hopefully will bring awareness to it. It’s a double-edged sword.’
