Michael ends up in danger (Picture: ITV)
Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) is driven to take deadly action in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as his gambling debts overwhelm him.
With bailiffs knocking on the door of the family home, gambling addict Ed knows that things have reached crisis point.
Following this, Leanne (Jane Danson) tells Michael (Ryan Russell) that Ed seemed absolutely desperate after meeting with Gary and then there’s panic for Michael as he sees smoke billowing from the builders’ yard and races up the stairs to look for Ed – and finds himself trapped in the flames.
The aftermath of this plays out in the following week’s episodes, as Ed is taken in for questioning by Craig over the fire. Ed tells DS Swain (Vicky Myers) that he accidentally knocked over some white spirit, but he insists he didn’t start the fire.
When he and Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) return home, Michael is absolutely furious and accuses his dad of burning down the yard so he could claim the insurance. Ed is devastated by his son’s anger.

Of course Ed has done some terrible things in the past as a result of his money troubles, including staging a fake burglary at Christmas and pawning all the family’s Christmas presents and using the late Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden)’s credit card, so it’s understandable that Michael would have his suspicions.

But is he right this time?
He’s forced to reflect on his harsh words to his dad when Craig (Colson Smith) arrives with some news.
It’s been confirmed that the fire at the yard was started by an electrical heater and wasn’t deliberate at all.
Michael is relieved that his dad wasn’t responsible and wants to make amends – but will Ed be willing to forgive him for his lack of trust?
The aftermath unfolds.
