Carla Connor (Alison King) is rocked by a surprise visit as her nephew Bobby (Jack Carroll) arrives – the day after Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) aka the love of her life leaves.

The special Boxing Day episode focused on Carla and Peter’s time together in Weatherfield. As they enjoyed their last supper, the couple reminisced over their tumultuous relationship and realise that, though they will always love each other, maybe it’s better that they part ways.

However, Carla wasn’t lonely for long as tonight’s episode sees her reunited with her ‘long lost relative.’ A relative she didn’t know she had.

Bobby reveals that he’s Rob Donovan’s (Marc Baylis) son and Carla is completely stunned.

Carla’s brother Rob is serving life in prison for the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan).

Carla agrees that Bobby can stay for a few weeks, on one condition – if he plays by her rules.

‘What it does with Bobby coming into this scenario is snap her out of going into the doldrums and going all reflective,’ actress Alison King said.

‘She is trying to be quite cut and dry about, you know, I’ve done this, I’ve made this decision, I’ve helped Peter make this decision along the way to leave.

‘But in the factory people are walking on eggshells around her and she doesn’t want that, it was going to be tough so Bobby arriving has kind of snapped her out of that because he’s so much trouble.

‘Him coming in and creating havoc a little bit, and her having to support him in lots of different ways stops any self indulgence. So that’s been amazing.’

Jack rose to fame at the age of 14 when he appeared in series 7 of Britain’s Got Talent. Becoming runner up in the competition, comedian Jack went on to appear in Saturday Night at the London Palladium, Jason Manford’s Funny Old Week and Live at the Apollo as well as completing his first national live tour.

He’s also had roles in CBBC shows, Doctors, and has written and starred in his own comedy short called Mobility.

Discussing his arrival to the show, Jack said: ‘I’m delighted and honoured to be playing a part in the history of the cultural institution that is Coronation Street. I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street’s classic comedy characters.’
