Coleen Rooney appeared delighted while out and about as news of her footballer husband Wayne’s return to English football broke.

The 37-year-old WAG giggled as she met up with a friend in Cheshire on Wednesday dressed in comfortable gym clothing.

Opting for a fresh-faced no makeup look, Coleen went on a walk in some black gym legging which she tucked into some grey and black ankle socks.

The mum of four kept herself warm in a dark green half-zip fleece and carried a bottle of water under on arm to ensure she was hydrated.

Tying her long raven hair back from her face into a messy low ponytail, the star accessorised with a simple gold chain necklace and some diamond earrings.

In her hands, she gripped her mobile phone and a busy keyring that featured her fob for a Mercedes car.

Coleen’s autumn stroll came as it as announced Wayne would be signing on to lead Birmingham City football club as their new manager.

The former England skipper signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at St Andrew’s and will be joined by ex-England team-mate Ashley Cole – currently England Under-21s assistant coach – and John O’Shea, the assistant coach of the Republic of Ireland.

Wayne replaced John Eustace who was sacked on Monday, following which he told the club’s website: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be joining Birmingham City at such an exciting time. It is very clear that they have a plan and are committed to realising their ambition for the club.

‘We are fully aligned on what is expected. I have been building my managerial career, putting myself in challenging environments, to get me ready for this opportunity.

‘It’s a project that gives me a sense of purpose and I can’t wait to get started.’

Birmingham co-owner and chairman Tom Wagner said: ‘Wayne is a born winner. We believe, with the support of his coaching staff, the club, and our supporters, he will take Blues forward on the next stage of our journey.

‘His playing philosophy will help to realise the ambitions we have set for Birmingham City.

‘Wayne has been preparing for an opportunity like this since he embarked on his coaching education whilst still a player at Manchester United.

‘He and his staff have the full support of the Board and everyone at the football club.’

As for the star’s wife, she is eagerly awaiting the release of her new documentary – Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story – that will detail the libel case from her point of view.
