Coachella’s parent company has ordered a filmmaker to ‘remove and destroy’ compiled footage of Frank Ocean’s set at the festival earlier this month.

The Lost hitmaker, 35, suffered a ‘serious ankle injury’ just days before taking to the stage, resulting in last-minute changes to his set during Coachella weekend one and Frank ended up pulling out of weekend two completely.

Following Frank’s controversial set, filmmaker Brian Kinnes – who didn’t attend the world-famous festival – edited together more than 100 videos uploaded to social media by those who saw the Grammy-winner’s performance.

Brian, 26, published his film online on Tuesday but that same day received a cease and desist order from AEG, Coachella’s parent company.

In a letter seen by Variety, AEG demanded that Brian ‘remove and destroy all audio and video content […] of musical performances from the festival’.

The letter also read: ‘Anything short of full compliance with this demand will lead to the initiation of immediate formal legal action.’

The outlet also notes that Brian, who is at editor at Simone Films, decided to stitch together videos of Frank’s performance shortly after YouTube announced the hitmaker’s weekend one performance would no longer be livestreamed.

Despite Brian initially insisting to Variety that he’ll continue to upload the video online and ‘isn’t concerned about legal repercussions’, all references to Coachella have since been removed from his social media accounts and website.

Before his Coachella performance, Frank – real name Christopher Francis Ocean – was involved in a bike accident, with sources telling Metro.co.uk that the incident occurred while he was at the festival rehearsing.

A close insider expressed that, while Frank wasn’t on stage when he was hurt, the mishap involved bikes used to roam around the Empire Polo Club grounds.
