CNN anchor furious after being fired from show
CNN co-host Don Lemon has been fired following accusations of misogyny and misbehaviour, according to reports. Lemon was dismissed from the network after he made remarks about Republican Nikki Haley not being “in her prime” earlier this year, which were widely condemned as sexist.
In response to the firing, Haley tweeted that it was a “great day for women everywhere.” CNN did not provide a reason for the dismissal, but it followed a report by Variety which detailed allegations of misogynistic behaviour towards Lemon’s colleagues. Lemon has denied the claims. He has also faced controversy for comments he made last year suggesting that the US men’s soccer team should be paid more than the women’s team because they were “more interesting to watch.”
“After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon wrote on Twitter.

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”
He continued: “It is clear that there are larger issues at play.”
CNN said that Lemon’s description of events leading up to his dismissal was “inaccurate,” adding that he had been given an opportunity to meet with management.
CNN This Morning will continue with Lemon’s former co-hosts, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. Lemon, who joined CNN in 2006, had hosted the primetime show Don Lemon Tonight for over eight years before helping launch CNN This Morning last November.
