The Guardian – Climate draft condemned as weak and insufficient

The Guardian’s front page features the backlash at COP28, reporting that the draft deal to cut fossil fuel emissions has been criticised as “grossly insufficient”.

The paper says the text was met with “concern and anger” by many climate experts. Cedric Schuster, chair of the Alliance of Small Island States, said: “We will not sign our death certificate”.

Other delegates, though, welcomed the fact that for the first time a COP text had actually mentioned reducing fossil fuel production.

The front page reports on Donald Tusk being elected as Poland’s PM.
