A pair of women are being sought by the British Transport Police after an assault on the London Underground led to a three-year-old falling to the platform floor.

The child’s mum had tried to intervene in an argument between the women and a man taking place on a Central Line train at around 10pm on October 8.

On the platform at Redbridge Underground Station, in the north-east of the city, one of the women responded by punching the victim, which caused the child to fall over.

Police have now released images of the two women who they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

A statement from the British Transport Police (BTP) said: ‘Detectives investigating an assault at Redbridge Underground station are today releasing these images in connection.

‘At around 10pm on 8 October 2023, the victim intervened in an argument between two other women and a man on a Central Line train.

‘Following this, the one of the women punched the victim on the platform, causing her 3-year-old child to fall to the floor on the platform.

‘Officers believe the women in the image may have information which could help their investigation.’
