Charles’s birthday was such a banger he says he’s still recovering two weeks later

King Charles partied so hard on his 75th birthday that he’s still recovering two weeks after the bash.

While meeting the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Dubai today, Charles joked that his ‘ancient’ birthday celebrations were a bit of a ‘shock’.

Charles marked his milestone birthday on November 14 by launching a food waste project in London called the Coronation Food Project.

He also appeared on the cover of the Big Issue magazine to promote the project, which aims to support the nation during the cost-of-living crisis by redistributing food destined for landfills.

When asked how he was while meeting the Nigerian President, he told Mr Tinubu: ‘I’m all right very much… just about.

‘Having had a rather ancient birthday recently, recovering from the shock of that.’

Charles’ meeting with the Nigerian president was held ahead of the opening address he’s expected to give at Cop28.

Later today, he will travel alongside Lord David Cameron to meet students and graduates to speak about green tech and the role of young people in delivering climate solutions.

And on Thursday evening, King Charles will join Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, to launch the Cop28 Business and Philanthropy Climate Forum.

His speech on Friday will mark the first time he has delivered the opening address at the conference as King, having previously opened Cop26 in Glasgow in 2021 and Cop21 in Paris in 2015.

Cop28 has already drawn criticism due to an oil boss leading it (Picture: PA)

Cop28 will run until December 12 in Dubai and will be attended by heads of state and government from across the world.

It’s already drawn criticism from many for having Sultan al-Jaber, an oil boss, named as president of the environment-focused summit.

Former co-leader of the Green Party Carolina Lucas said of his appointment: ‘For COP28 to deliver the outcomes we desperately need, it must be free of any dirty fossil fuel ties and misleading greenwashing.

‘In practical terms, that means the CEO of a super self-serving, super-dirty Emirate oil giant should be nowhere near the vicinity of any climate conference, let alone presiding over it.’
