Real Madrid lost at Liverpool FC and slipped further and further down the Champions League table. The Champions league Royalty are 24th and have to worry about the round of 16. Against Liverpool, a Real superstar misses a penalty.

Liverpool FC continued its impressive winning streak

Liverpool FC continued its impressive winning streak in the Champions League and also disenchanted defending champions Real Madrid. Coach Arne Slot’s team defeated the Royals 2-0 (0-0) on matchday five of the league phase, thus underlining their current top form. Argentine world champion Alexis Mac Allister (52nd) and substitute Cody Gakpo (76th) scored the goals.

Real Madrid has to worry about the round of 16

Both teams also missed a penalty each. Real’s superstar star Kylian Mbappe missed the equalizer after just over an hour and was denied by Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. On the other side, Mohamed Salah (70th) shot a penalty shot to the left of the goal.

With an impeccable record of five wins, Liverpool remain confidently at the top of the table and can slowly but surely plan for the round of 16. Real, on the other hand, are stuck with six points and, four points behind eighth place, are in danger of losing sight of direct qualification for the round of 16. Real are currently only in 24th place and would therefore just be in the second round.

AS Monaco missed the jump to second place, losing their home game against Benfica Lisbon 2:3 (1:0). Meanwhile, Aston Villa missed out on another prestigious success. The team from Birmingham, which had already beaten FC Bayern in the current competition, drew 0-0 with Juventus.

Eindhoven manages to catch up furiously

Thanks to a memorable comeback in the final phase, PSV Eindhoven celebrated an important victory in the fight for the second round.

The team of former Dortmund and Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz turned 0 at home against Shakhtar Donetsk with three late goals from former Bayern professional Malik Tillman (87th, 90th) and ex-Augsburg player Ricardo Pepi (90th + 5): 2 still in a 3:2 (0:2). Donetsk professional Pedrinho (69th) was sent off early for serious foul play.
