IndyCar’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix is underway in Washington, D.C., commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday with 25 cars racing up to 180 mph. Thousands of fans are attending as major road closures affect key tourist sites around the National Mall. President Trump is scheduled to start the race.

Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump’s initial pick for attorney general ahead of his White House return, has withdrawn from consideration for the post. Trump’s decision to choose Gaetz shocked Washington and the country.
