Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, face a new charge of conspiracy to commit torture following a superseding indictment filed in New York. Prosecutors allege the couple oversaw a system of repression involving torture of political opponents, including American citizens, in Venezuela.
National Democratic support for Texas gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa has intensified, with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the Democratic Governors Association each committing at least $1 million following tightening polls against Republican incumbent Greg Abbott. Hinojosa’s campaign, having reported $4 million cash on hand, is pushing for additional funding.
Federal prosecutors are poised to file new charges against former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, related to the alleged torture of American detainees in Venezuela.
