Pennsylvania voters participated in primary elections on Tuesday, selecting candidates for congressional, gubernatorial, and local races. Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Republican State Treasurer Stacy Garrity ran unopposed. U.S. House races included a competitive contest in Philadelphia’s 3rd Congressional District following Rep. Dwight Evans’ retirement.

The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly passed a resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in the devastated Gaza Strip. One hundred and fifty-eight members voted in favour of the resolution, nine voted against, with 13 abstentions.

US President-elect Donald Trump defended his choice of Charles Kushner for US ambassador to France, describing him as a “family member” and a “very successful man” in an interview released on Wednesday, December 11.
