Former Michigan health official Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate primary, defeating Rep. Haley Stevens. El-Sayed’s leftist platform gained endorsements from prominent progressives, positioning him for a general election contest against Republican Mike Rogers, who ran unopposed in his primary.

Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican Sen. John Braun will proceed to the general election for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, following a nonpartisan primary. They outpaced seven other candidates, with the race deemed crucial for determining control of the House next year.
