Ukraine gained its independence following the fall of the Soviet empire. But today it is fighting for survival against the old enemy.
It is being propped and supported by the West and Nato who are using to fight a proxy war against Russia.
It is the second-largest country by area in Europe after Russia. At present, it is pushing for EU and NATO membership to protect it from the threat of Russia with whom it shares its largest border.
Ukraine also shares borders with Belarus to the north; Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west; Romania and Moldova to the south; and has a coastline along the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, which is currently seized and under Russian control.
It has rarely been able to enjoy its Independence, it has had an uprising in the south of the country, who want independence and is currently engaged in a war with Putin’s Russia.
Russian armed forces invaded Russia on the 24th of February 2022 and the siege continues.
The country is led by President Volodymyr Zelensky a TV producer turned politician who gave up his lucrative career in TV to lead the country, with a specific goal of bringing peace to the country.
