In Saturday (April 29)’s visit to Casualty Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless)’s colleagues become concerned by her emotional state as she deals with a patient who’s so seriously wounded she can’t be saved.

As Max (Nigel Harman) and the rest of the team realise that it’s too late for the patient Stevie keeps going in a desperate attempt to save her.

Max is worried about Stevie and offers his support, but she insists she doesn’t need his help. Later on, however, she questions Donna (Jaye Jacobs), asking if she’s getting a reputation for losing a lot of patients as she begins to question her own abilities.

Previously viewers saw Stevie having her self worth and confidence systematically undermined by her boyfriend, hospital manager Marcus Fidel (Adam Sina).

Over the course of months he cut her off from her friends, tried to destroy her reputation by posting negative reviews about her performance on an online review site and finally sent intimate pictures from her phone to all of her colleagues.

Even though Marcus has now left the hospital and is out of Stevie’s life, it’s clear that she’s still carrying the scars of the abuse she suffered from him. Can she find a way to overcome her doubts and be the doctor she knows she can be?

Elsewhere, Ffion (Stirling Gallacher) has found some work painting and decorating for Jan (Di Botcher)’s ex-husband Gethin (Robert Pugh), who is staying with them.

She doesn’t understand why Jan is uncomfortable with this, but that’s because Jan hasn’t told her that Gethin is suffering from motor neurone disease and she worries he might not be physically up to the job.

Ffion feels like Jan always puts other people ahead of their relationship and urges her to set some boundaries.

Someone else who’s having problems with boundaries is Donna, who starts to feel like she might not be management material after all when she and Dylan (William Beck) have a disagreement over a patient.

Dylan offers some words of advice as the two start to form an amusing partnership after Donna decided that from now on they’d be sharing the drive to work. Dylan’s car contains things Donna ‘hasn’t seen since the 90s,’ apparently.

Jacob has some questions to answer (Picture: BBC)

And everyone is angry that Jacob (Charles Venn) hasn’t been to see Teddy (Milo Clarke), who is still in a hospital bed recovering from being shot when Jacob recklessly intervened at an armed stand-off in a shop.

With Paige (Shalisha James-Davis), Sah (Arin Smethurst) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) all making their feelings to Jacob quite clear, will he see the error of his ways and try to make things right with Teddy?
