Carol McGiffin admits future on Loose Women is at risk over ‘contract issue’

Carol McGiffin has revealed that she’s run into some obstacles concerning her future on Loose Women, as she feels ‘quite upset’ over an ‘issue’ with her contract.

For more than two decades, the TV broadcaster has been a regular on the ITV programme, frequently stirring up debate among her fellow panellists with her divisive views.

However, it appears that her time on the show could come to an end if a behind-the-scenes dispute isn’t resolved.

During a recent interview, Carol addressed the fact that she hasn’t been on Loose Women for two months ‘because I’ve had to step away from it’.

‘It was causing me too much stress, which was mostly down to a difficult contract issue I’d been challenging since January,’ the 63-year-old told Best Magazine, via MailOnline.

‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say “no thanks”.’

The TV personality said that she feels ‘quite upset’ about the situation, stating: ‘Although it is my decision, I felt like it was one I was being forced to make.’

‘No one in their right mind would have signed that contract. And I can’t see a way back from it,’ she added, also confirming that she won’t be taking part in the upcoming Loose Women tour.

Last year, Carol expressed her dislike for Halloween during a discussion on the show (Picture: ITV)

In recent months, Carol became embroiled in debates on Loose Women on topics including Rishi Sunak’s appointment as the Prime Minister, Halloween and Matt Hancock’s stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Speaking in November last year on the show, she said that she felt ‘disgusted’ that the former Health Secretary signed up to take part in the competition.

‘He’s not a fool. He’s doing a party political broadcast,’ she stated. ‘It shouldn’t be allowed. I’m absolutely disgusted.’

Meanwhile, after the latest Prime Minister entered No 10 Downing Street, Carol said on the programme: ‘I don’t have any confidence or feel inspired at all. I feel let down and disillusioned.’
