Call Of Duty 2023 reveal is August claims source – will have Zombies

Activision’s long rumoured 2023 Call Of Duty title is said to be getting an August reveal that will include an in-game event.

While Microsoft continues to try and buy Activision Blizzard, in spite of a recent UK regulator induced setback, work on the Call Of Duty franchise carries on as normal, with Activision promising a new entry for 2023.

However, for once, there’s a notable amount of intrigue surrounding the upcoming title, as there have been conflicting claims of it being either DLC for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or a full premium release.

It’s now suspected that it was originally the former but has since morphed into a full game but it will take an official announcement from Activision to clarify things, which rumours suggests will be taking place this August.

It’s also suggested that, unlike Modern Warfare 2, Call Of Duty 2023 will feature the fan favourite Zombies mode at launch.

That’s not too surprising, since this year’s entry is reportedly in the works at Sledgehammer Games, which has included a Zombies mode in every one of its games since 2014’s Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

This is according to perennial Call Of Duty leaker Tom Henderson, who adds that the reveal will take place on August 1 precisely (a Tuesday), ruling out any potential appearance at the rumoured PlayStation showcase or the Xbox showcase in June.

That’s not surprising as Call Of Duty is not usually announced at such events. That said, it’s entirely possible the date will change between now and August, and wind up being pushed forward or backward.

Henderson also claims that the reveal will be done via an in-game event of some kind, much like how Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard were unveiled through the original Warzone. If so, Activision will likely use Warzone 2 this time around.

This will then be followed by a beta period in October, with the full game launching in November.

Since it’s believed to have started as DLC, it’s said Sledgehammer’s next game is a continuation of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 story, with many fans already referring to it as Modern Warfare 2.5.
