Bruno Fernandes calls for apology from referee after Manchester United lose to Tottenham

Bruno Fernandes wants an apology from referees boss John Moss after Manchester United were denied a penalty during their defeat to Tottenham.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by Spurs in north London, spurning a number of good chances in the first half before dramatically dropping off in the second period as Tottenham scored twice.

Fernandes feels United were denied a nailed-on penalty in the first half, though, when an Alejandro Garnacho shot struck Cristian Romero’s arm in the box.

The situation was checked by VAR and no penalty came from it, but Fernandes feels there was no doubt that it should have been a spot-kick.

On Monday night Wolves were denied a penalty at Old Trafford after United goalkeeper Andre Onana clattered into two opponents, with Moss going on to apologise to Wolves boss Gary O’Neil.

Fernandes wants the same treatment from Moss that Wolves received after missing out on a penalty at Spurs.

Asked what explanation the referee gave for not giving a penalty, Fernandes told Stadium Astro: ‘You’ll have to ask him. They have to start making interviews after the games so they can explain themselves.

‘It’s a clear penalty. No excuses for not seeing, no excuses for the VAR to not see that.

‘Last week they made a big thing for United not having a penalty against us. I want to see what’s going to happen this week. If it’s going to happen…the same show that they did last week.

‘I want to see if John Moss also comes to apologise in our dressing room, like they said they did for the manager of Wolves. I hope he’s here and he can come.’
