Brooke Shields has opened up about her health after secretly a terrifying seizure which left her in hospital.
The Blue Lagoon actress recently detailed her worrying ordeal in September, explaining that Bradley Cooper remained by her side during treatment.
Appearing on the red carpet at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards this week, the 58-year-old lifted the lid on her treatment, and how she is coping now.
‘I’m fine,’ she insisted in a new interview. ‘I mean, now my salt is okay.
‘I didn’t know it was all about salt and they were like, eat potato chips and I’m like, “Really?”’
She continued to People Magazine: ‘I didn’t know the serious nature of flooding your system, flooding yourself with the necessary sodium that one needs, and how your kidneys can malfunction.

‘I didn’t know. I just kept thinking I was hydrating.’
Brooke was booked to open a solo show at Café Carlyle in New York in September, and had been drinking a lot of water in preparation.
However, this meant that her body had become ‘low in sodium’ without even realizing it.
In a conversation with Glamour Magazine, she unpacked the hospital scare, explaining that she had walked from her home to L’Artusi, where she started to have a seizure.

‘Everything starts to go black. Then my hands drop to my side and I go headfirst into the wall,’ she recalled. ‘I start having a grand mal seizure.
‘It means frothing at the mouth, totally blue, trying to swallow my tongue. The next thing I remember, I’m being loaded into an ambulance. I have oxygen on.’
Reflecting on the ordeal, Brooke said that the sommelier at the restaurant tried to reach her husband, Chris Henchy but instead an assistant reached another assistant, who then got in contact with Bradley, as he happened to be nearby.
‘He came, and somebody called the ambulance. And then it was like, I walked in with Jesus,’ she explained. ‘I didn’t have a sense of humor. I couldn’t really get any words out.

‘But I thought to myself, this is what death must be like. You wake up and Bradley Cooper’s going, “I’m going to go to the hospital with you, Brooke,” and he’s holding my hand. And I’m looking at my hand, I’m looking at Bradley Cooper’s hand in my hand, and I’m like, “This is odd and surreal.”’
Ever the professional, the Friends actress only had one thing on her mind throughout her illness – making sure that she had recovered in time for her solo show, which she managed in time for the opening on September 12.
‘I kept saying to the doctor, “You’ve got to get me better.” And they had the EEGs and things; they thought my brain was seizing,’ she added. ‘They had catheters; they had IVs. I was stuck. And then they put me into ICU and that’s where I got bronchitis.’
