Brighton can maintain superb track record against Arsenal at the Emirates

All, or more accurately both, roads to the Premier League title go through Brighton.

The Seagulls have yet to entertain leaders and defending champions Manchester City and they travel to London on Sunday to face Arsenal at the Emirates.

Albion continue to sell their top players, including to the Gunners in January while manager Graham Potter left in September for his ill-fated spell at Chelsea, yet they keep defying the odds by getting better and better.

New boss Roberto De Zerbi has them playing exquisite football and they are seventh in the table, two points behind Tottenham with a couple of games in hand as they chase their dream of playing European football next season.

Those ambitions took a hit on Monday in a typically thrilling game at home to Everton, who stunned armchair viewers with a 5-1 victory, resulting in betting slips around the country being tossed into the nearest waste paper basket.

But anyone watching in disbelief will testify that on another day the Seagulls could have salvaged something from the match, despite trailing 3-0 at half-time.

They were doomed by a mixture of shots that cannoned off the woodwork, a series of near misses and multiple breathtaking saves from England No.1 Jordan Pickford.

Brighton are expected to bounce back at Arsenal, who gained a superb 2-0 win at Newcastle last Sunday, in what should be another belter.

The Seasiders have won three and drawn one of their last five trips to the Emirates and are big at 7/2 with SpreadEx to once again return home with maximum points, while striker Evan Ferguson looks a real prospect and he is 3/1 to score at any time with William Hill.

Sunday also sees Manchester City travel to Everton and this may be closer than many think as the visitors will have one eye on Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg at home to Real Madrid.

A 2-1 away win is 17/2 with bet365, while Phil Foden is 13/5 to score at any time with Hills.

    • Follow Andrew Balding’s Aztec Empire each-way at 20/1 with bet365 for the Chester Cup.

    • Holger Rune can go deep into the Italian Open and should be backed each-way with cautious optimism at 16/1 with bet365.

Brighton can win at Arsenal – again.
