UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is fatally shot in New York City
New York City police are hunting for a man who shot and killed UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson Wednesday morning.
The 50-year-old was shot in the back just before 07:00 EST outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The attacker fled the scene without taking any of Thompson’s possessions.
The suspect wore a black face mask and cream jacket and appeared to be waiting for Thompson for five minutes outside the hotel where he was due to speak at an investors conference.
He was shot in the back and leg and pronounced dead at the hospital.
His wife has said Thompson had been receiving threats. Police believe it was a targeted attack.
