Brenda Edwards has recalled how her cats lost their hair ‘from stress’ after the death of her son Jamal.
The Loose Women presenter and her music entrepreneur son – who died in February 2022 aged 31 – both took care of her pets Tiny and Tempa, and she noticed the animals were affected by his death.
During a discussion on the ITV daytime show about people’s pets who have spotted illnesses in their owners, she said: The day he passed away, two days later they started losing their hair from stress.
‘We took them to the vets, and the vet said, “What’s changed?” We told him what had changed, and they’d literally lost all their hair…
‘They stayed outside of his door, I kept the door closed, they stayed out there for 10 days.’
While one of the cats is ‘getting better’, the one who was closest to Jamal is still missing bits of her fur.

She added: ‘Tinie’s getting better, but Tempah – who was the main cat that he used to love and stroke – she’s still missing hair.’
Late last year, proud mum Brenda got candid about the ‘overwhelming’ emotions she had felt since her son’s dath, admitting she still ‘doesn’t know’ how to put it into words.

The 54-year-old star took a break from Loose Women at the time, but returned two months later, and shared a powerful tribute to her son during her first show back.
She later reflected on her return to TV and admitted it was ‘important for me to get back to doing something’.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘My son Jamal was such a hard-worker. I am inspired by him to this day. If he was here, I know he would be saying to me, “Come on Mummy, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with it”.

‘When you’re left in your own head space, you start second guessing and you start overthinking things. Being at home… that’s not good for me. I want to keep busy.’
