Blake Lively has confirmed that she will not be attending the Met Gala on Monday, breaking fashion hearts all over the world.

The Gossip Girl icon, 35, is normally a staple at the annual event, and is known for pulling out all the stops on the red carpet, going all out to fit the theme.

Appearing at the very swanky re-opening of Tiffany & Co’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, she was questioned about whether we could see her popping up at the exclusive bash this year.

‘You will not,’ she told reporters, via People Magazine. ‘But I will be watching.’

Reflecting on her stunning gown from last year’s party, she joked: ‘I’ll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.’

We wouldn’t put it past her.

Blake has been a firm fixture in front of photographers over the years, and has been joined by husband Ryan Reynolds, 46.

The couple even served as co-chairs at the 2022 Met Gala, alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The mom-of-four found herself at the top of many best dressed lists last year, and chose to celebrate New York with her look – which transformed as she made her way up the famous steps.

Although Blake will not be in attendance, Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham confirmed they are already in preparation mode with their outfits, teasing a ‘classic’ vibe.

Kim Kardashian, who was initially rumored to have been snubbed from the night, revealed that she recently traveled to Paris to get some ‘inspiration’ for her outfit.

This year’s Ball theme has been unveiled as ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’, in honor of the late designer, who died in 2019.

The Met’s curator, Andrew Bolton, previously shed light on how the exhibition will pay tribute to the fashion icon.

‘At its heart the exhibition will look at the evolution of Karl’s two dimensional drawings into three dimensional garments,’ he told WWD.

‘We could not do a traditional retrospective. For one thing, I think Karl would have hated that.

‘Even though one of his facets was that he was a historicist, and he would revisit themes in his work, he was always looking to the future in his own work — he hated looking back at the past.

‘It was something he had a very conflicted relationship with.’
