Black Friday 2021: Deals will be scarce as retailers plan to snub sales event because of shortages

The i says bargain hunters face slim pickings this Black Friday as many retailers will be forced to ignore the annual fire-sale completely.

In the face of rocketing shipping costs, major delays to orders and a nationwide lorry driver shortage, shops face too many challenges to complete the stocking and restocking necessary for the late-November event.

The retail extravaganza has in recent years come to mark the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping period, generating huge buzz, especially online.
