The US front pages cover a wide variety of mostly American news. The arrival of the next president Donald Trump – who will take office in January – also continues to make the front pages, as his cabinet choices continue to be scrutinised.

Publications also look ahead at what the next Trump term could look like.

There’s speculation over Trump’s economic plans for the country with experts warning that it could lead to higher inflation and interest rates.

Several front pages report on Donald Trump’s promise to mass deport illegal immigrants using the American military, and that he will declare a national emergency to help force millions out of the United States.

We take a look at the biggest USA newspapers this morning.

‘Early discussions about big changes to Medicaid, food stamps and more’ says The Washington Post.

The Washington Post has several Donald Trump articles on its front page. The paper says the incoming president’s economic advisers have begun preliminary discussions about making significant changes to Medicaid, food stamps and other federal safety net programs to offset the enormous cost of extending Trump’s 2017 tax cuts next year.

‘Matt Gaetz accused of paying teenager for sex,’ reports the Washington Post.

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, Matt Gaetz, is accused of having paid a 17-year-old for sex in 2017. This woman and a second woman, also represented by Leppard, testified that they were paid by Gaetz to have sex with him and other individuals who attended these “sex parties.”

‘Trump’s plans have economic risks that could drive up inflation and interest rates,’ says USA Today.

USA Today says Donald Trump’s plans have economic risks. He has promised a “manufacturing renaissance upon his return to the White House, pledging tariffs to bolster companies that make products in the United States. His plans have been heralded by some domestic manufacturers competing against low-cost goods from countries like China but economists warn tariffs can be a double-edged sword by driving up inflation and interest rates.

‘Biden’s approach to inflation left opening for Trump,’ says the WSJ.

The Wall Street Journal leads with an image of Joe Biden speaking to France’s Macron at the G20 summit in Brazil. The front page reports that the president’s approach to inflation ‘left a big opening for Trump.’

‘Americans will soon find out how much their leadership matters,’ says the New York Times.

The New York Times features a sidebar opinion piece which suggests Donald Trump is a threat to the world order and his return to the White House will tell Americans just how much their leadership matters.

‘Trump will use military to mass deport migrants,’ says Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles Times reports on Donald Trump’s announcement that his plans to mass deport illegal migrants will involve the US military. He has said he will declare a national emergency.
