BBC Breakfast’s resident sports presenter John Watson was rushed to hospital with a painful leg injury earlier this week.
The broadcaster revealed on social media that he was operated on after tearing his meniscus, the cartilage that acts as a shock absorber between the shinbone and the thighbone.
Sharing a photo of his bandaged left leg from his hospital bed on Thursday night, John tweeted: ‘Less of a dash, more a hop to the studio on Monday morning for me …’
While John is well on the road to recovery, he did disclose that he’ll be on crutches for a ‘couple of weeks’ until his leg is fully healed.
John’s followers were quick to wish him a speedy recovery, including fellow BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay, who wrote: ‘Take care, John. I’ve got a glittery sock for the other foot if you need it.’

It’s safe to say that John is a little accident-prone, having smacked his head into a door earlier this month.
