Irredeemable Batgirl movie will NEVER be released

Warner Bros has announced the Batgirl movie will never be released at all, despite having already completed shooting the movie and in post-production.

The $70 million movie won’t even see a streaming release, having been ‘sheleved’ completely – a source confirmed the budget ended up being closer to $100m, making it one of the most expensive cinematic castoffs ever.

The movie was being screen-tested for audiences and was expected to drop in cinemas at the end of 2022.

But reports say the movie was so poorly received during the screen tests by moviegoers that the studio decided to cut its losses and run to save the brand.

“They think an unspeakable ‘Batgirl’ is going to be irredeemable,” the source told The Post.

It’s been a tough month for the movie directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah – receiving not a single mention at DC’s Comic-Con panel in July – the move raised questions in the industry. The Comin Con panels are designed to boost exposure for upcoming projects like this one.

It’s understood that Batgirl was originally planned for an HBO Max release, but in April the WB’s then chair Toby Emmerich was considering a cinema run for the film too.

The movie stars Leslie Grace in the title role, alongside JK Simmons, Micheal Keaton and Brendan Fraser.

A minute after this story posted got a call from a rival studio exec who was floored by move. "Worked in this town for three decades and this is some unprecedented shit right here." https://t.co/A3aBLPulWz
